The Gemma Project operates a direct service model-site, providing an in-custody gender and trauma-responsive Day Program that includes a Continuing Care Reentry Program for women transitioning from jail back to their community.

The Gemma Project provides replication support and technical assistance to sites across the country, including hands-on instruction, curriculum training, landscape analysis, and guidance on local customization for jurisdictions to implement their own Gemma In-Custody Day Program and Continuing Care Reentry Program.

Gemma assists jurisdictions to identify and change criminal legal, health, child welfare, housing, employment, education, and civic engagement policies that disproportionately impact women and exacerbate the intergenerational cycle of incarceration.
